Elena's Bio

Elena Lopez Sans dancer choreographer and teacher of dance yoga and the Alexander Technique lives in New York since 1987 where she initially came to pursue dance and choreography.
Prior to come to New York Elena accomplished the career on modern dance with a BA in dance and the 4 year yoga teacher training in the line of Krishnamacharya and danced and taught in Europe.
When Elena moved to New York she choreographed and danced intensely and offered her first performance with her dance company at la Mama first street workshop with the help of a grant of the Generalitat. then she performed in many other different venues as Ps122 Saint Mark's church, Columbia University, Spoke the Hub and many other places in New York and abroad. Elena obtained several grants to support her work.
In 1993 she was certified as an Alexander Technique teacher for the Studio for the Alexander technique and the Alexander Technique International, and she started to teach Alexander lessons and briefly linking the Alexander Technique and yoga, Since 1993 she offers ongoing classes and workshops of "Alexander Technique and Yoga" at three learning levels. Shortly she also begins to offer her classes of Dance of Yoga. In 2009 Elena started to offer gatherings on Sacred Dance. Elena has taught at many different places in different communities including Brooklyn Arts Exchange, The Energy Center in Brooklyn, The New York Open Center in Manhattan and the YMCA

Dancing choreographing and teaching Elena has traveled to 6 different continents. Most recently places like Morocco, Brazil, Hawaii and briefly she is planning to go to India where she will teach at a rehabilitation center in Bangalore.
Elena lives regularly in New York where she continues dancing choreographing and teaching and offers Alexander Technique, Yoga, Dance and their integration, as well as Sacred Dance. Also she is a certified Reiki practitioner. In addition, she is part of Moving for Life, giving somatic dance and movement classes and lectures trough out New York City.
